Caressive impressive on Thanksgiving Day
Darley Stable's Caressive broke her maiden impressively at Hollywood Park today setting a new track record with jockey Rafael Bejarano in the irons. The 3-year-old dark bay broke from the outside post and rated near the back of the field. She took the lead at the top of the stretch and drew clear with little effort to win by a length, finishing the one-and-one-sixteenth miles in 1:41.1.
The A.P. Indy filly was stretching out in her second start off a layoff. She finished a fast-closing fourth on October 25 at Keeneland under Bejarano going seven furlongs. That race and a pair of sharp five furlong works set her up nicely for today's race.
"She was very impressive," said trainer Eoin Harty. "She had some quirks in the past but she seemed to put it all together today. "
Caressive was bred in Kentucky by Darley and is out of the Storm Cat mare Caress.
