'Diamonds earns her crown
Rabbah Bloodstock’s Crown of Diamonds graduated in her third career start on Saturday in a Maiden Special Weight for two-year-old fillies going six furlongs under jockey Brice Blanc. Going off as the two-to-one favorite, the Distorted Humor gray stalked the pace close up, took the lead at the eighth pole and fought gamely to the wire to win by a head.
"She has always shown plenty of ability," said trainer Eoin Harty. "She was very impressive breaking her maiden and she looks like she should be able to stretch out."
Bred in Kentucky by Gaines-Gentry Thoroughbreds, Dearborn Stables & Tom Van Meter, Crown of Diamonds was purchased at the 2006 Keeneland September Yearling Sale for $240,000. She is out of the Pass the Tab mare Horn’s Gray.
