Darley's awesome 'Escapade in North American debut

Darley Stable's 4-year-old filly Dubai Escapade nearly equaled the Gulfstream Park track record in an allowance event on Wednesday, winning by 7 3/4 lengths while gearing down at the wire under jockey John Velasquez. The bay filly broke slowly, but she immediately sprinted to the lead and set the pace with fractions of 22.3, 45.1, 1:09 flat, and finishing the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:15.1.

The Awesome Again filly was saddled by assistant trainer Brian Ange who said, "She was pretty awesome today."

Dubai Escapade was bred in Kentucky by Needham Betz Thoroughbreds & James Blackburn and was purchased at the 2004 Barretts March 2-Year-Old in Training Sale for $2,000,000. She is out of the Saratoga Six mare Sassy Pants. She had made only two prior starts, breaking her maiden by 5 1/4 lengths in her second start going 1 mile at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse in Dubai in March, 2005 before coming to the United States.

Trainer Eoin Harty said, "She ran a fantastic race in her North American debut. She would appear to have a very bright future."
