Darley's Noblewoman reigns in debut
Darley Stable's 3-year-old filly Noblewoman delivered a stunning performance in her debut at Gulfstream Park on April 2nd in a 6-1/2 furlong Maiden Special Weight under jockey Edgar Prado. The chestnut A. P. Indy filly rated just off the pace, took command on the turn, and drew off under a hand ride to win by 7 3/4 lengths.
Trainer Eoin Harty said, "She was all class, very composed, very professional in her debut, and she won with authority."
Noblewoman was bred in Pennsylvania by Brushwood Stable and is out of a Gone West mare. She was purchased at the 2004 Keeneland Select Yearling Sale for 750,000. She had shown considerable promise in her training and did not disappoint.
Assistant trainer Brian Ange said, "She looked like a star. She had always been training forwardly and we knew right away that she was quick. [Darley CEO] Jimmy Bell said that she might be a good one, and it was nice that he was here to see her in the winner's circle."
