Darley 'Reigns supreme at Saratoga
Darley Stable's juvenile filly Imperial Reign closed out a highly successful Saratoga meet for Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, easily winning a Maiden Special Weight in her second start under jockey Garrett Gomez. The Indian Charlie bay went off as the even money favorite and pushed the stable to the top of the owners' standings.
"She ran very well today and improved on her first performance," said trainer Eoin Harty. "We will look for a stake at Belmont for her next race."
Imperial Reign was bred by Antrim Oaks (FL) and is out of the Robellino mare V Sign. She was purchased in March at the Ocala Breeder's Sales for $1 million.
Darley CEO Jimmy Bell said, "Her performance today justified her purchase price."
